Sree Saravana Bhavan is a well-known chain of vegetarian restaurants that has made a name for itself with its genuine South Indian cuisine. It all started back in 1981 when P. Rajagopal opened the first location in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Since then, it has blossomed into a global sensation, boasting over 90 outlets in 28 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Singapore, and Australia. The restaurant is particularly famous for its traditional offerings like dosas, idlis, vadas, pongal, sambar, and an array of chutneys, along with thali meals, filter coffee, and delightful sweets, all typically served on stainless steel plates to keep that authentic touch. The dining experience at these restaurants is clean, cozy, and family-friendly, with options for dine-in, takeout, home delivery, and catering. With their simple yet stylish interiors and friendly staff, Sree Saravana Bhavan has become a beloved spot for both locals and Indian expatriates craving those traditional South Indian flavors while abroad. However, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges; founder P. Rajagopal faced legal troubles and was convicted in 2004 for the murder of Prince Santhakumar, passing away in 2019.
